Sea Kayak Outer Hebrides marathon · 11 August 2015

We want every child in the UK with a neurodisability like cerebral palsy - and their families - to have access to learning and life changing therapy, aligned with our Pace approach. Our specialist clinical, education and therapy teams work with babies, children & young people from 0-18.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.I'm raising money, with my three of my friends (Pete, Jon and Dominique), for PACE a charity that supports families who have children with Cerebral Palsy. After my son, Bertie, was born, at only a week old  he became very poorly. After spending several weeks in Birmingham children's hospital he was diagnosed with viral encephalitis. The viral infection damaged his brain and we fully expected to be the parents of a disabled child with Cerebral Palsy.Despite all the odds Bertie is now 2 years old and is on track with his development milestonesEmily and I are very aware how lucky we have been and that there are so many families out there with children that have a very different outcome.Cerebral palsy affects 1 in 400 babies with over 1800 new cases in the UK each year. The condition affects mobility (amongst other things) and can leave the child severely disabled. On 20th May we are doing a sea kayak challenge in the Outer Hebrides covering 30 miles to raise money for PACE to do their amazing work supporting children and their families affected by this condition. Any donation no matter how small will be amazing, thank you!Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.,
