Following on from the world record achievement of The Sisterhood in 2007 when they crossed the English Channel in a dragon boat and successfully raised £150,000 for The Babes in Arms Appeal at Northwick Park and The CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund, the Sisters are back in action and their latest fund raising challenge is to compete in the world's longest raft race, 180 km in the depths of the Amazon. Not being one to miss out on a challenge, 4 guys decided to take them on at their own game, and to train with them, eat with them, sleep with them, and see if we can beat them. Averaging 14.5 stone, our home made raft (to be constructed from wood we have to hack down with machetes on the day prior to the race) will probably sink before the end of the first day, and if it does we'll just have to swim the rest, wrestling the crocodiles, and eating the succulent piranhas for breakfast. We are of course paying for all of our own costs, and every penny we raise will be sent to the same charities as before to help the sisters with their quest. The Babes In Arms charity at Northwick Park raises funds to support groundbreaking research in cot death, early miscarriage, and all other complications associated with the health of both the mother and the unborn, or newly born baby. If you, like us, think this is a worthwhile cause, and something you would like to support, then please log on to our just giving website and do the usual thing. Curt.
