Team Sweat Monsters are competing in the 2009 Marathon Des Sables to raise money for Cancer Research UK.  The event is a grueling six day 150+ mile race through the Sahara Desert in 40C heat. The Marathon Des Sables is "the toughest footrace on Earth".

We are running for Cancer Research UK because we have all experienced the trauma and anguish of friends and loved ones suffering at the hands of this unforgiving disease. Running marathons may have become almost commonplace, however, the Marathon Des Sables is widely accepted as being the most difficult to complete. We wish to show our commitment to Cancer Research UK by completing this event and pushing ourselves to our physical and mental limits.

Cancer Research UK, which is based in the United Kingdom, shares its expertise worldwide. It is the largest single financial contributor into cancer research in the UK.  It supports the work of over 4,000 doctors, scientists and nurses throughout the UK.  £89.00 will fund one scientist for one day in the field of cancer research.

Donating through this site is straightforward and your details are secure. Also, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your donation at no cost to you.  (Cancer Research UK advise using Justgiving for online donations).

All of the funds raised will go directly to Cancer Research UK.  Please donate generously and all contributions will be gratefully received.

Many thanks for your support.
