Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have set myself the challenge of running 12 marathons in 2012, one every calendar month. I will be running each race to the best of my ability, aiming to run a personal best each month and hopefully break the 3 hour mark in the process. Whilst doing this I hope you will help me to raise money for the Brain Research Trust.
I have chosen to raise money for the BRT as almost all of us will be affected by brain injury or illness at some point in our lives either personally or through a loved one. BRT researches causes and treatment for hundreds of neurological issues such as strokes, epilepsy and Alzhiemers.
My race schedule looks like this:
January - Marrakech Done: 3 hours 26 minutes
Febuary - Seville Done 3 hours 48 minutes
March - Duchy Marathon, Cornwall Done 3 hours 28 minutes
April - Shakespeare Rotary, Stratford upon Avon Cancelled due to flooding (Half marathon completed in 1 hour 30)
May - Edinburgh Done 3 hours 13 minutes
June - Wales Marathon, Tenby
July - Boddington, Cheltenham
August - The Full Moon Marathon, Morton
September - Vilnius Marathon, Lithuania
October - Chester Marathon
- Dartmoor Vale Marathon
November - Valencia, Spain
December - Pisa (tbc)
Although I've run a few marathons in the past, this is going to be a huge undertaking for me, and I hope you will support me in this challenge and donate generously to a great cause. Please visit my blog to see how I'm getting on throughout the year: http://www.runblogs.co.uk/blog/paulwadept/ Thank you.
Here's a bit more about the charity I'm supporting:
Brain Research Trust is the umbrella charity for research into conditions of the brain and nervous system. We were established in 1971 to promote and support research into the causes, treatment, prevention and cure of neurological diseases.
We fund basic and clinical research at University College London’s world-renowned Institute of Neurology (IoN). Since Brain Research Trust was founded, we have given over £40 million to the IoN to help finance their research programmes and PhD studentships.
There are more than 250 neurological conditions. With your support Brain Research Trust can continue investigating conditions including Alzheimer's Disease, Brain Tumours, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Parkinson's Disease, Epilepsy, Motor Neurone Disease, Migraine, CJD, Brain Trauma and Spinal Cord Regeneration
