A group of us were thinking of Stand Up Paddling (see picture) from Boscombe to Yarmouth just for shits and giggles at some point over the summer. We then realised that we could use our stupidity for good by raising money for worthy charities, the two we have picked are;
Julia’s house, which is a Dorset based Children’s Hospice that is dedicated to providing love, support and help to both children with terminal conditions, and their families ensuring they make the most of the time they have together.
And Cancer Research UK-self explanatory I would hope.
The paddle is expected to take a number of hours and take us across some rather dangerous water through the Needles Channel and Hurst Spit. It is not something that has ever been attempted before to our knowledge, and probably for good reason! The preliminary date for the paddle is August the 15th (weather permitting). This will give us time to train/sculpt our guns (see picture again) and collect the £££££ for the charities.
If you would like to partake or know anybody that would please spread the word, the more the merrier!
Fundraising will take place in a number of ways;
Old skool collections from family, friends, colleagues and whoever else by the participants.
Collection pots in both Sorted surfshops and Urban Reef and Beach.
We have already began discussions with Animal, Sorted Surfshop, King of Watersports and a couple of local bars and restaurants. If you know of any businesses who might be willing to make a donation please let us know. It will obviously be super good advertising for the business too.
Enjoy your summers.
George
