Eikon helps children and young people to feel safe, heard, empowered, and supported. We listen, we talk, and we help them with the skills they need to live their best life. And we work with families and professionals to make sure everyone gets the support they need, so that young people thrive.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Between the 28th and 30th of June 2010 Matthew Rickwood, Dave Carpenter, Ruairi O'Shea and Dave Blair will be attempting to complete the 15 Peaks Challenge. The 15 Peaks Challenge is a route of 26 miles from the top of Snowdon to Foel Fras, including some 14,000ft of ascent and fourteen summits, fifteen if Garnedd Uchaf is included. We will be attempting to complete the challenge in 24 hours, on either the 29th or 30th of June and to do this within 24 hours walking requires an early start and plenty of stamina.

We will be doing the walk for the benefit of Eikon, a local charity which works mainly to help young people and families who are struggling to cope with the trials and tribulations of every day life. Eikon aims to support these people with their problems, encouraging the development of strategies to overcome their struggles, while promoting the development of greater aspirations in all whom the organisation comes into contact.

Eikon's origins date back to 1995, when the "New Haw Youth Project" was set up by a small group of volunteers who were running a regular youth club at Heathervale Baptist Church in New Haw. Although originally the work of the charity focused in and around New Haw, as the work of the charity expanded and influence extended beyond just "youth" and the area of New Haw, the charity was re-launched as Eikon in 2005.

Anything that you donate whether it be a pound or significantly more than that will help to improve the lives of many people and no amount is too little. The organisation relies heavily on donations, with volunteers helping to share much of the workload, and with an increasing workload your donation could help an incredible amount.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate.
