Success at the River Poole Clean Up! Sat Sept 27th September

Thanks to all our sponsors

The clean up on Saturday was a great success with around 30 scouts and around 15 parents and adult helpers turning up. We couldn't have done it without the brilliant assistance of Ben Fenton and his team from the environment charity Thames 21 who provided all the necessary equipment, advice and guidance.

30 bags of "standard" rubbish i.e. cans, bottles, paper etc were picked out of the river along with some rather more exotic items including a shopping trolley, an ironing board, a strimmer, a hoover, the door of a small safe and a bus stop!

The scouts from 6 to 14 years and some older ones were amazed at the amount and type of rubbish that they retrieved. Thank you to all those who sponsored us via justgiving.com and their funds, added with the offline sponsorship, means that we think we have around £400 - £500 pounds. As soon as it is all collected in we will let you know the final amount.

About the 15th Sydenham

We are a thriving group of around 50 scouts - girls and boys - of different backgrounds in and around the Sydenham area. Aged 6-14 we take part in loads of activities throughout the year that keep us off the streets!

The volunteer leaders keep the scouts busy with everything from archery to first aid to skiing but we need to raise money to ensure each scout can take part if they want to.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Scout Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks to Thames 21 - the environmental charity - for organising this event!
