Thanks for visiting our fund-raising page.
The 19th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the American Civil War Society plan to march 10km from St Luke's Hospice to Endcliffe Park via the Sheffield Round Walk on 29th August 2009.
We'll be wearing authentic 1860's wool unforms and carrying the equipment that a soldier would have taken with him including a backpack, haversack, canteen, cartridge box & musket. The photo opposite shows what we'll look like on the march.
Our primary aim is to raise funds for St. Luke's which does such good work for so many of Sheffield's citizens and their families. The money we hope to raise is our way to say thanks to everyone in and around Sheffield who have welcomed us to the Sheffield Fayre for the last few years.
Also, this sponsored march will also give us a little more understanding of the lives of the soliders we represent by marching a long distance with the same equipment as they would have carried on campaign.
You can come and find out how we got on at the Sheffield Fayre which takes place at Norfolk Heritage Park on the following 2 days, August 30th/31st.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Luke's Hospice (Sheffield) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
