Marathon Relay · 27 June 2014

HYT supports sustainable development in Uganda by using environmentally friendly technologies. British volunteers & Ugandans work together improving lives, providing employment opportunity by constructing water tanks & low cost buildings & training young Africans in useful, practical skills.

Story

On the 27th of June, HYT's country manager, Wyndham Hughes D'Aeth, will lead a selection of HYT's employees and their volunteers, Tristan and Freddie, in a relay run between our Kamuli 'One Village' sites; Makoka, Namaganda, Naminage and Kimenyulo.

Since HYT started working in Kamuli in 2012, we have trained 40 Ugandans in ISSB technology, built 28 structures with 8 on their way, and helped develop 8 schools.

As we are nearing the end of our 6 month period in Uganda, this is a great opportunity to give something back to the charity that we have seen give so much to the local communities and that has looked after us so well.

The team will run a distance of roughly 20km from village to village. We are aiming to fund the building of a water tank at our newest training project, Kimenyulo, and so we are hoping to raise 10p for every 1L of water for the school's tank.
