The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

au·tism
Noun
A mental condition, present from early childhood, characterized by great difficulty in communicating and forming relationships

That is the definition that you can find online.
What it doesn't tell you is those that have it can make make you see the world in such an amazing way. However, some of those on the Autism Spectrum need around the clock care.
Some, just need time and opportinity to see the things around them that most of us take for granted.

The NAS (National Autistic Society) has been supporting those with Autism and their families for 50 years.
Everything from advice to training and consultancy, from supporting people on ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder)
in employment to diagnosing complex needs.

Autism IS a lifelong disability that can affect how that person communicates and  interacts with the world around them. There is no known 'cure' for autism, but with correct support it is possible to greatly enrich the lives of those who have it.

Here are some facts and statistics about autism, and how it can affect children, adults and their families.

Over 40% of children with autism have been bullied at school.

Over 50% of children with autism are not in the kind of school their parents believe would best support them.

One in five children with autism has been excluded from school, many more than once.

Nearly two-thirds of adults with autism in England do not have enough support to meet their needs.

At least one in three adults with autism are experiencing severe mental health difficulties due to a lack of support.

Only 15% of adults with autism in the UK are in full-time paid employment.

79% of those on Incapacity Benefit say they want to work.

So, we would really appreciate it if you can sponsor us and help raise money for such a worthwhile cause. For more information please go to http://www.autism.org.uk/
