My story

Over the course of 2012, I've decided that I'm going to run 1 million metres which will include the Reading half marathon and first ever Sierra Leone marathon

I'd be a fool to do this without a charity in mind so the charity I've chosen is the Oxford Transplant Foundation...

5 years ago, Adam needed a new kidney and was lucky enough to get a transplant after a little girl tragically died.  The average life of a kidney obtained in this way is 8 years (although they could last  20) and I rather like Adam (hopefully he won't see this) so if I can help to keep him alive just a little bit longer by doing this, then that's what I'm going to do!

So you can follow my story at http://1millionmetrechallenge.blogspot.com.  Distance will be taken from the GPS on my phone (I'm hoping that when it lies, it'll average itself out).

Wish me luck and keep an eye on how things are going by following this blog.  Oh, you could always donate a few pennies here too ;-)

The Oxford Transplant Foundation is an independent charity established to raise funds for the sole benefit of the Oxford Transplant Centre. The Foundation raises funds that are used to enhance the Centre's facilities and to promote research in transplantation. It is devoted to the dissemination of information about the latest medical developments and their implications for improving patient care. The Foundation provides opportunities for stakeholders of the Oxford Transplant Centre -- from patients, doctors, through to carers and scientists -- to work together in continuing to build the Centre's reputation as a world leader in transplantation.
