Herts Charity Challenge · 14 October 2012

5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.

Story

Well, a new baby, a bored 4yr old, and job hunting just werent taking up enough of my time, so I thought I'd mix it up with some triathlon training.

I've had a long standing desire to learn to swim "properly", added to which I was already running and riding to get fit post baby number 2. Add those things together and the word "triathlon" just popped into my head from some reason!!

400m swim, 20k bike ride and 5k run. I'm there on the bike riding. The run will be a challenge running outside as my previous runs have all been on the treadmill, I can currently do 5k in about 40 minutes. The swimming however, will be a car crash as I can currently only do 1 length of girly breast stroke.

So I have armed myself with a heartrate monitor, some swimming lessons and some amazing friends and neighbours to babysit while I sweat it out, and who knows I may make it round in one piece.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please clear out your car ash trays, down behind the sofa (if you haven't already to recession proof yourself!) and donate now.

thanks
