Mongol Rally 2008 · 21 March 2008

Mercy Corps is helping communities prosper through clean water, food, livelihoods and hope. Together, we are a global force for change, standing with families facing poverty, conflict and climate crisis. In September, Mercy Corps will become Prosper Global, a new name reflecting our global mission.

Story

The Mongol Rally

10,000 miles, 3 deserts, 5 mountian ranges, some dirt tracks (about 3000miles on our chosen route), 35 countries and some of the worlds most inhospitable terrain and weather are all that stands between us and Ulambataar (the capital of Mongolia).

You've seen "The Long Way Round"? Well, the Mongol Rally is 300 cars doing a similar journey - only we'll stop at Mongolia - all in the name of charity. We've chosen to drive a 1959 Morris Minor - (we hope she'll make it) - from London to Mongolia and we're trying to raise £20,000 to be split between three charities:
Make A Child Smile - a North East charity close to our hearts
Cancer Research UK - making a difference nationwide
Mercy Corps - an international charity funding projects in many of the countries we'll be passing through.

Please support our trek half way across the world. The terrain will be terrible and we'll have to not only live in a car for 4 weeks - but try and negotiate it across some of the world's toughest terrain!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mercy Corps Scotland will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
