The 200 Mile River and Land challenge is a double event where 100 miles will be done in a kayak in 4 days on the River Severn, and 100 miles by walking the West Highland Way finishing off at the top of Ben Nevis in just 8 days. One brave sole is mad enough to take on the double challenge but everyone else who will be doing the West Highland Way is still just as crazy.
The first of the challenges, The 100 Mile Kayak Challenge, is taking place on the 29th May 2010 and as promised will be completed in 4 days, Will Wilson is doing this challenge as he is the only one (Out of the Team) who has been given the opportunity to do this by Surrey Clubs for Young People. (Challenge completed)
The second challenge, The West Highland Way, will be taking place on the 1st August 2010 by all of us and we expect to complete it in just 8 days. The walk officially starts at Milngavie near Glasgow and finishes at the foot of Ben Nevis at Fort William, we decided that it wasn't a BIG enough challenge so we are also walking to the top of Ben Nevis.
Last year i raised approximately £700 and with the extension in the challenge and the added Team Members (Paul Songer, Chris Wilson) we would like to raise £1,500
Together we are raising funds for the Mid Surrey Young Carers, a project that we work closely with, so that young Carers may participate in activities whilst receiving respite from caring for disabled or terminally ill siblings or parents.
We all ask that you sponsor us by the mile (Just in case Paul doesn't finish) or just as much as you can, I know times can be tight for money but if you can donate as much as possible the money will go along way with Mid Surrey's Young Carers, every £2 raised helps 1 young person.
Thanks from all of us and we will keep you updated with news and pictures.
Will Wilson, Paul Songer, Chris Wilson
