Story
It’s all about the box!
This summer I will be embarking on a cycle ride, from Land’s End Cornwall to John o’Groats Scotland, to raise money for the Cornish based disaster relief charity ShelterBox. I will be cycling with my friend Joe, unassisted, staying mainly at youth hostels along the way. In all, we will cover more than 1,000 miles in 14 days (depending on our map reading skills!). Starting at Land’s End on the south westerly tip of England, we will pedal through Cornwall, over Dartmoor, and then into Wales. Skirting the Lake District into Scotland, our route continues via Loch Ness and the Highlands up to the North Coast, and finishing at John o’Groats.
The charity ShelterBox instantly responds to disasters worldwide by delivering boxes of essential aid. Each box supplies an extended family of up to ten people with a tent, a lifesaving water filtration system, stoves, pots and pans and basic tools to use while they are displaced.
Each box costs an average of £490 including all materials, packing, storage and distribution to individual recipients worldwide. Based on six months use only this equates to 27 pence per person per day.
Any donations, no matter how small, will be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance for your support!
