Story

Hi there!

We're Sammy and Sarah, an English couple who, in August 2010, bicycled away from our friends and family back home to ride as far as we can- as we have no plan to stop, hopefully that means we'll cycle around the world!

Since departure, we've wanted to find a cause close to our hearts. One that not only helps people through sports, but one that helps people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS)- a nervous disease that two of Sarah's family are diagnosed with. Through them we've seen first hand how frustrating a nervous system disorder can be for the affected.

Sportability ticks all the boxes- they not only help people with MS, but those with other nervous conditions such as stroke, paralysis and spinal cord injury.

Day by day as we ride, the people we meet, the places we see and the obstacles we face teach us something new about ourselves, the world we live in and even how to tackle issues with greater success. All this through simply jumping on a bike and taking a chance!

Imagine then how empowering participating in a sporting activity would be to someone who feels controlled by their nerve condition.

Sportability gives such people the chance to get out there and grab life by the proverbial horns through a whole range of sports - scuba diving, sailing, archery, angling, abseiling, quad-biking, gliding, canoeing, clay pigeon shooting, go-karting, land-yachting & wheelchair tennis to name a few... well to name a lot!

To put it in the words of the charity themselves:

"It is about the adrenaline rush, putting the buzz back into a life corralled by the wheelchair, taking the 'dis' out of disability and focusing on ability. To inspire the thought, "If I can do this, what else can I achieve?"..."

We wanted to keep our target realistic, but it'd be fantastic if we can get more.

Please, please help us blow the top off the money-meter by digging in your pockets, in the sofa, or even under your bed to donate to the cause.

Many thanks in advance for any help you give,
