2011 Coast2Coast Charity Ride

19.07.11 Update: We finished at 3.30 on Thursday 14th July after approx 9 hours in the saddle over two days. After much deliberation we concluded that getting drunk on the first night did not help the second days riding go smoothly. Sutton Bank defeated us all and saw much grumbling and swearing trying to walk up in cycling shoes! Thanks again to all for the very generous donations and please feel free to send it round to friends and family. It would be very nice to reach the 100% target.
24.05.2011 Update: Mike Atkinson has unfortunately had an accident during training and, rather than exclude him from the ride, there was a unanimous decision taken to postpone the event until the 13th/14th July. This will enable Mike to get back to peak physical fitness (!!) and join us once again. We will also be joined by another consultant, Peter Lynas, who was going to join us first time round but couldn't due to previous engagements. Thanks again for all your support and I will aim to keep you updated with Mike's progress.
Simon
We’re five (now six!) property professionals working in the North of England and we’re hoping to raise at least £2,000 for two very worthwhile causes supporting young people.
The idea is to cycle from Scarborough to Morecambe in two days with an overnight stop near Leyburn, The ride will be taking place on the 25th/26th May 2011 and will be a total distance of 130 miles. No doubt we will take in the delights of Sutton Bank and a good dose of the Pennines.
The riders will be:
Simon Prest - Redrow Homes Yorkshire
Mike Atkinson - Atkinson Associates
Neil Robinson - Redrow Group Services
Neil Clarke - Bracken Development
Mark Taylforth - Pendle Group Limited
The idea was originally the brainchild of Mike Atkinson in order to raise money for worthwhile charities including:
The Being Bel Trust*, The trust was set up to buy care and equipment for Bel Young, a former Moorfield School pupil who was paralysed in a fall from a climbing frame
* Money donated through Just Giving will go directly to Martin House Children’s Hospice. If you wish to support The Being Bel Trust please contact Mike Atkinson on tel 07714896045 or email: mike@atkinsonassoc.co.uk , to arrange a direct donation.
Martin House Children’s Hospice in Wetherby. Martin House Hospice care for Children and Young People with progressive life limiting illnesses, and provide support to their families. They are based in a purpose built hospice in Boston Spa, Wetherby and care for children and young people from throughout the Yorkshire region
