Three intrepid motorcyclists, Derek, John, and Rob are planning to leave Lands End at sunrise on Thursday 21st June 2012 and ride directly to John O'Groats to see the sun set on the same day.  Although a "just for fun" event and a personal challenge the three bikers are raising funds for (and awareness of) the Canine Partners charity who provide and train assistance dogs for people with disabilities.

21st June 2012 update:

 

Challenge Accomplished!  Derek, John and Rob are pleased to report that they've achieved their objective of rinding "End to End in a Day".  The weather at Land's End was absolutely awful (Cold, Wet, AND Windy) so the boys decided wisely to leave late Wednesday afternoon to try to outrun the weather front.  They left in torrential rain at 5pm and apparantly didn't get ahead of the rain until they were in Somerset on the M5.

 

Derek reports "We made it 13.5 hours riding average speed 60.3. Total time with breaks 17 hours now for a kip!"

The "end to end" distance is 840 miles. Our fundraising target of £2,500 represents just £1 a mile for each rider.

All three riders are members of the Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists. Team leader Derek decided that this challenge would make a natural "follow on" from last year's ride around the coast of Great Britain with his cousins.

Derek will be riding his new Triumph Tiger Explorer.  John will also be riding a Triumph - a Tiger 1050.  Rob will rely on his trusty BMW R1200GS
