Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our 24-7JustGiving page.

The 24-7 Forest Challenge came to life in December 2010. The idea came from a few middle aged guys, drinking beer at one of the oldies birthday bashes, that seem to be having perhaps a " Crisis" as they say!! We decided that it would be fun, taxing and not to mention absolute hell to run an ultra marathon and an ultra off road bike ride simultaneously. The 24-7 comes from running 2 marathons, back to back, cycling 4 marathons back to back and a team of 7 people doing the event, all peformed off road through and around the Forest Of Dean, so no easy roads for this event!!

The date to put in your Diary is May 27th 2011 starting at 6am at The Saracens Head, Symmonds Yat.

To put this into some context, it consists of about 12 - 15 hours of riding and running continuously. The participants (us fools) will use upto 15,000 calories during the event, the equivalent of 6 days normal adult calorie consumption in one 15 hour event!!

At present there are 7 of us "Mid life crisiser's" taking part, 4 runners and 3 bikers, which may, given the gruelling training sessions and the time required, end up being less than the starting figure, although those drop out's will not get away easily we can assure you.

The team members are:

Steve Jones, Simon Leney, Adrian Barber, James Pothecary, Paul Simmons, Jim Coles and Neil Crofts.

We'd really appreciate your support for our chosen charity being Macmillan Cancer. Your donations will make a huge difference to this fantastic organisation. Also to the people who work tirelessly to care for and look after our loved ones and those less fortunate people than ourselves who so desperately need their help.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many, many thanks from all of the 24-7 team for your support.
