<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;">Over two million punches will be thrown by 60 of Newcastle’s fittest in a 24-hour boxing circuit being held for the Help for Heroes charity this November.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;">The five dozen men and women, including four ex-military personnel, will split into two teams to undertake the marathon 24hr Boxing Circuit Session at the FIT Club on High Bridge, Newcastle, taking 24 alternate half-hour sessions per team. The volunteers will start at 3pm on Saturday, November 26 and end at the same time Sunday, with the entire </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;">show under the watchful command of event organizer, FIT club proprietor and boxing trainer, Clive Gibson.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;">During the event, each half-hour session will involve 18 punishing minutes of hammering at the forest of bags that fill the Fit Club gym, followed by a barrage of sit ups, leg raises, step ups, squats and push outs with a 4kg medicine ball. And the volunteers “will get no sleep…that’ll be the fatiguing bit!” Clive adds.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;">It's estimated that, at just 80 punches per person per minute, the total for the 60 would be 2.073 million punches, with some 345,000 sit ups, 17,280 squats and 17,280 push ups estimated to be crunched out over the day. A burn rate of 300 calories per person per half hour would see some 180 lbs in body weight torched in total, along with incalculable gallons of sweat, while the cost in destroyed punch bags and gloves remains to be seen. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;">The 24-hour ‘box for heroes’ circuits will make for far longer and more energetic Saturday night out than is usually seen down the Bigg Market. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; color: black;">The FIT Club Facebook page will be updated regularly throughout the event:</span></p>
