We are taking part in a charity 24 Sports in 24 Hours event, raising money for the children's ward at the PRU Hospital in Locksbottom. This will take place at and around HSBC sports club over the weekend of August 15th 2015. 

We will be competing against each other in 24 sports in 24 hours on the day and the team that raises the most money will get extra points and once step closer to the trophy!

The reason behind this charity day and fundraising is because two members of our hockey club, James and Alex welcomed into the world Jenson William Grey in November last year. Less than a week after he was born he had to return to hospital, via an ambulance, and was diagnosed with meningitis. Fortunately it had been caught early and he is now recovered and showing no long term affects, a perfect bouncing baby boy, eating, crying and lots of pooing, occasionally sleeping.

Jenson had to spend a pretty harrowing 10 days in hospital, and then a further few weeks having 3 daily drug treatments, involving late night and early morning visit to the ward. The doctors, nurses and support staff were amazing through the whole thing and really looked after Jenson and his family. When he was finally discharged they committed to raise some money for the Children's ward, and they asked for help raising funds for a Multi-sensory Procedural Distraction Unit. This is to help distract babies and young children while they are having a procedure and they cost £3,500. Hospital procedures can be very distressing for the child and for their parents and this enable the staff to administer the required care to the patients in their charge.
