Dear friend, family member or lost passer-by, thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Some of you may know that I'm running the Flora London Marathon this year. Some of you may even have seen the new slimline shape I'm sporting especially for the race (I use the term 'race' loosely). Given that the Marathon is such an important event for charities I'm doing my bit. Running the marathon for me has always been one of life's little challenges to undertake. It's never really been about setting a time it just something I've wanted to do but as the day has gotten closer I've been increasingly worried about the distance. I don't want to be thinking about stopping when it gets painful (which it will!) so I've opened up this charity page as a little more motivation. A long long time ago I lost a grandad to heart disease and on March 9th this year I sadly lost my second grandad through related problems. This has made it an easy decision to run in aid of the British Heart Foundation. I will be running with the memory of Fred clear in mind and I'm sure he'll carry me through. Asking for sponsorship is always a difficult subject so this is not intended to place any pressure on you at all. I appreciate that a lot of you give to charity already so this is just let you know what I am up to in case there are some pennies left in your sock drawer what you can do with them. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure but more importantly it offers the opportunity to add 'gift aid' to your donation. If you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for reading this and for your support. If you see me on the day, give me a shout...I'll listen out for you. Simon
