2nd Medical Brigade Cycle the United Kingdom

2nd Medical Brigade is a brigade within the British Army that deals primarily with the provision of Field Hospital medical support to our soldiers all over the world. The Brigade Headquarters is based in Strensall near York, we have either a Regular or Volunteer unit in the following locations:

Strensall        Aldershot       Gosport      Newcastle

          Birmingham       Cardiff      Northern Ireland

Glasgow       Manchester     Liverpool   Sheffield

                    Bristol                      London

Our aim is to conduct a charity event in order to raise funds for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF). The ABF have been looking after the welfare of both our soldiers and their families for over sixty years and continue to this day to provide the support that is second to none  at a  time when it is most needed. The ABF spent over 5 million pound last year alone and all of the money was provided from charitable donations.

The Event

The coastline of the United Kingdom is approximately 4,500 miles and by dividing that figure by the number of participating units from within the brigade we will, in effect, be able to cycle around the United Kingdom. Once units have been allocated their miles to cover they have until 31 May 08 to complete their activity.

Every member of the hundreds taking part in this event will cycle as many miles as they can either on a bike or on a cycling machine. This is a huge project involving many, many people and we need your help.

2. You could go along and support one of the units taking part.

3. You could pass on our information to friends and family and get them to sponser us as well.
