Story
On 26th April, Steve Sellers & Neil Ruff RAN the London Marathon to raise money for this year's Official Charity, The Children's Trust
The Children's Trust provides care, education and therapy to children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs.
Every parent hopes that his or her child will be born healthy, and will progress through childhood without serious injury or illness. Unfortunately sometimes these expectations are shattered; children are born with disabilities or become disabled suddenly as a result of an accident or illness. The Children's Trust is there to help these children and their families.
The combination of services that the Trust offers children with multiple disabilities is unique. There are around 75 children at The Children's Trust at any one time, and The Children's Trust helps hundreds of families each year in many ways:
Residential Care - Short Breaks - Rehabilitation for children with acquired brain injuries - Transitional care between hospital & home - Outreach (caring for children in their own home) - The Children's Trust School, St. Margaret's
Some of the costs The Children's Trust faces:
£15 for a fibre-optic light to capture a child's attention
£48 for a special switch that will help a child to use a computer
£57 for a huge physio ball to help a child with little or no mobility balance & play
£125 for a squidgy floor mat for a child to lay on for physiotherapy
£300 for a special sling to move children with multiple disabilities in comfort
Steve & Neil proudly ran in Memory of Justin Tuohy
Justin was a very courageous little boy, who, despite being very poorly from birth, lived his life to the full, and captured the hearts of everybody who met him.
Justin spent his last 2 years at The Trust, until he sadly passed away last year, aged 5
Many thanks for visiting our fundraising page, especially if you've made a donation!
