a Charity Challenge organised by Discover Adventure · 31 December 2012 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Our JustGiving page.

So, what's it all about? Well!

Leon & Chip, team 'Two Men One Mountain', will swap Sunrise Senior Living of Solihull for the African plains this year, to climb 5,896m up the highest freestanding mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro. We will be embarking on this ultimate challenge in aid of the Alzheimer's Society, Sunrise's nominated charity for 2012 & 2013.

Team 'Two Men One Mountain' hopes to raise over £20,000 by taking part in the trek - which departs on the 16th August 2013. In advance of this we are calling on individuals organisations & Sunrise Senior Living communities across the country to get behind us to help with our fundraising mission. Every penny donated will help the Alzheimer's Society invest even more into research to develop treatments to support people with dementia today & find a cure for tomorrow.

Once we reach the summit, we will plant a Sunrise Senior Living flag in the mountain soil, made up of small fabric panels to represent each of our supporters. To help the flag take shape, and spur us on along our way, please sponsor the 'Two Men One Mountain' team by donating here or text TMOM £5 to 70070. If you would like to sponsor one of the panels on our flag then please call 0121 7012700.

Mawson Chipchase, Activities & Volunteer Coordinator at Sunrise of Solihull said:

“I decided to take part in this challenge for Alzheimer’s Society because my Grandfather had Alzheimer’s. At that time I was unable to help as I was so young. Now that I have grown up and work at Sunrise Senior Living in Solihull, with people who suffer from this on daily basis, I would like to help as much as I can.

“This adventure will allow me to give back to the society.  I have always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro, and this challenge enables me to do this and so much more. It’s great to know that every metre I climb will help support people living with dementia lead a better life and help fund vital research into a cure.

“Leon & I have just starting preparing for this with regular walks and weekends planed in Snowdon over the coming months. In total the training will take over 8 months, so we hope it pays off.

Please support us any way you can.

So please dig deep and donate now.
