Three Peaks Challenge 2009 · 12 March 2009

Fire Fighters Charity provides care and support to the UK’s fire family. It helps with any health and wellbeing challenges firefighters, control staff, and everyone working in – or retired from – the UK’s fire services, as well as their families, may face - during and after service

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am an ex Firefighter from Stratford Upon Avon. I was part of a retained crew with John Averis and Ian Ried and attended the warehouse fire in which they were tragically killed along with Ashley Stephens and Darren Yates-Badley from near-by Alcester. It is this incident and all the support the crew and families have received from the Fire Fighters Charity that has inspired me to try to give something back.

I am now living in Newquay, Cornwall. I am studying for a degree in Outdoor Education. This involves instructor training in sports such as Climbing, Windsurfing, Sailing, Kayaking and Hiking. On 21st May, 2009 I will be heading up to Scotland along with 7 others from my course to complete the "Three Peaks Challenge". This starts at the base of Ben Nevis and involves scaling 3 mountains (Ben Nevis, Scarfel, Snowdon) in 24 hours. We will stay overnight in a hostel in Scotland before setting off in the morning. After ascending Ben Nevis, we will travel to Scarfel in the Lake District. After returning from this peak, we will move on to Snowdonia, Wales where we will tackle Mt Snowdon.

All the above will take place within 24 hours and I'm hoping the scale of the challenge will help me to raise a sizable amount of money and publicity for the charity.

Any size donation is greatly appreciated, please see column to the left for more details on the work this great organisation is involved in. Having witnessed their support first hand I can say with some confidence their cause is a very worthy one.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Fire Fighters Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Many Thanks,

Ashley Skett
