Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

Help for Heroes’ provides support for wounded British troops. I myself am extremely proud of what these guys do and they don’t get enough support – particularly if they come back from deployments wounded, which must be one of the worst things to possibly happen.

With this in mind I have decided to organise an event in order to raise money for the charity mentioned above.

The event:

At the end of the Royal Marines 32 weeks basic training they take on four commando challenges, the final one being that of the 30-miler. They complete a 30 mile “yomp” (across Dartmoor) carrying full gear (I think it equates to 32lbs). In order to pass the recruits need to complete this in 8 hours, officers in 7.

This event is along the similar lines as this.

The event is scheduled to take place on Friday 22nd February 2008.

The standard event will consist of completing a 30.3-mile route carrying 30lbs of gear in under 12 hours.

The route is going to travel along 30.3 miles of the Pennine Bridleway which runs through the Peak District in Derbyshire. We will first follow the 11.5 mile stretch of the High Peak trail, then continue along the Pennine Bridleway.
