My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!
We have now completed the 3 Peaks but still need your support to help raise the remainder of our pledged £5000. Please help us to help those less fortunate than we are.
Keep visiting our page and scroll down below for all the news of how we got on with our Challenge of climbing Ben Nevis, Scaffell Pike & Snowdon! Check out our photo gallery as well.
We work in the Food Industry and appreciate more than most perhaps, the difference that Hospitality Action has made in the lives of those in need within our industry. Those who through no fault of their own, find themselves in financial difficulties. Either through injury or family member illness or even redundancy and job loss, people find help and financial assistance through this charity.
Hospitality Action is not at the forefront of everyone's mind when it comes to raising funds for, or donating funds to - so when we were approached as a company to enter in an event to raise money for this very worthy cause, we signed up!
We do doubt our sanity when we think about the task ahead of us and there is a knot of apprehension when considering just what a challenge the 3 peaks in 24 hours will be, but the fact that we are able to participate and provide something tangible for those who may not be able to themselves is a great strengthener of our wills to complete this challenge and raise our pledged £5000. We cannot do this on our own and ask that anyone and everyone who reads this page digs deep and donates to support this cause.
Thank you one and all for your support!

£40 means we can send a Family Member a Christmas parcel so they can enjoy the festivities
£100 covers a month of heating for one of our beneficiaries suffering from a life threatening illness
£500 buys essential kitchen items for someone who has been re-housed after being homeless
£1,000 will help towards the cost of an unexpected funeral
£2,500 buys a mobility scooter for a disabled beneficiary, giving them back their independence
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Give whatever you can - every penny does genuinely make a difference.
Our Peaks Adventure
19th September 2011:
Well we did it! It was an awfully big adventure and a humungous challenge indeed, but we climbed all 3 Peaks – Ben Nevis, Scaffell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours (well 27 and a bit...).
21 September 2011:
On friday 16th September we made our way up to Fort William for an excited but nervous evening prior to the 24 hour challenge. We had a quick meal in the Ben Nevis Pub and then tried to get some sleep in a bunk house, which had all the space, air and acoustic insulation of a First World War tank. It is probably fair to say that all of us, with the exception of perhaps Heather, who we found could quite irritatingly fall asleep virtually instantaneously wherever she was, were already sleep deprived when we staggered forth at 5AM on Saturday 17 September, threw our stuff into a bus that was as roomy as a straight jacket, but not quite as comfortable, and headed off to the foot of Ben Nevis.
You will have to check on this page again for the remainder of the story...
Disclaimer: The organisers of this event, the guides, the drivers, the bunkhouse folks were all brilliant. They made a gruelling, scary but rewarding challenge manageable and dare we say it - fun!
