My story

13th February update....

We are safely back in the UK following our successful summit on Thursday 10th February - it has been an exhilarating and challenging experience.

We have had a lot of laughs and been near to tears on a few occasions but overall it has been an amazing adventure, strengthened by the knowledge that so many of our friends have supported us along the way and helped to make a difference for people who will really benefit from the money raised.

Again, thank you all for you kind donations, it is much appreciated.

Some great news .... the management of BGC have kindly offered a donation of £5,000 towards our challenge. This is a fantastic contribution and takes us beyond our original target, but don't stop donating as every penny is going to a great cause......

Following in the footsteps of Cheryl Cole, Gary Barlow and Chris Moyles - Mark Thomasson (RBS), Jim Bowditch (BGC) and John “Lushy” Partridge (BGC) are undertaking a personal challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in early February and in the process are hoping to raise lots of money for a good cause.

We would greatly appreciate any sponsorship you are able to contribute, but have to make it clear, any incentive to leave one of our party up the mountain is not an option!

We have all personally paid the entire cost of the trip ourselves so every penny donated will go directly to DebRA.

We will be leaving the UK on Friday 4 February 2011 and start the climb on Sunday 6 The climb will take 6 days via the Machame route and we are climbing in a group of 13.

We expect this adventure to be quite challenging, particularly listening to Lushy’s jokes for 6 days….

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they willl never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we will raise more, whilst saving time and also cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you.
