Despite having never climbed a mountain, we are busy raising money before we undertake a 396km-bike ride in Nepal later this year all in the name of charity. Mencap a leading UK charity for people with a learning disability and their families in the United Kingdom.
Ruth Davies, who has already participated in a Mencap cycle ride in 2005, challenged Aman and Helen to join her in a more physically demanding bike ride in Nepal. Nepal which is situated between China and India is only the size of Austria yet if its deep folds were to be stretched out it would be equal to the size of the United States.
The majority of the people taking part in cycling challenges are not cyclists. This is very true when it comes to us. Although having a busy lifestyle we are committing to raise £10,000 between us.
As well as the above event we are carrying out some vigorous training in our spare time over the 16weeks prior to the cycle ride. These include waking up an extra early hour to go to the gym and long cycle rides at the weekends.
Although this is a very challenging venture both mentally and physically all three of us believe it is for a worthy course and many more families who know of somebody with learning difficulties will benefit from our hard work.
Thank you for your support, please give generously!!!
