The Three Children's Charities Bike Ride and Walk is an annual event which supports the Friends of the Nigel Hunter Nursery, The Forest Of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre and the Milestone School Summer Holiday Activity Scheme. All three charities provide specialist services for children with disabilities in Gloucestershire.
The NHN is a specialist nursery giving therapy and assessment to babies and toddlers with severe disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, and global developmental delay.
Milestone School is the largest 'special' school in the County. A large number of its pupils are not able to access mainstream holiday activities because of the severity of their disability and the Charity provides days of fun and entertainment for the children, in their own school and with their own staff caring for them.
The F of D COC is a local charity providing care for young children with disability in the Forest of Dean. It also supports families and has a thriving Holiday Scheme.
The 3CC Bike Ride is entirely run by volunteers, so every pound donated will be divided between the three charities. Many of the children - like Holly in the picture- do their own bike ride and nature treasure hunt to help raise money. Alternatively there is a 25 mile off road bike ride around the Forest of Dean or a 10 mile walk through the Forest and Nagshead RSPB reserve. Everyone meets up for a barbecue lunch.
