We support disabled people around the world to give them freedom through mobility

Story

Hi everybody,

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

We aim to cycle 900+ miles from Lands End, the southern most tip of the UK to John O'Groats the most northerly point in 18 days from 9th to 26th August 09.

It is guaranteed to be 18days of challenges, saddle sore bums, sweat, tears and exhaustion but it will be an adventure of a life time! We are also hoping to raise money for the charity  'Motivation', a Bristol based charity that aims to enhance the quality of life of people with mobility disabilities. Motivation work with local people and charities in a variety of capacities. From setting up wheel chair businesses, providing prosthetic limbs, employing disabled people previously seen as unemployable and providing equipment for disabled sport. As dedicated athletes we feel passionately that wherever you live in the world, and what ever your physical ability you should have equal opportunities in life.

For more information on Motivation check out the web site: http://www.motivation.org.uk/

All donations are really appreciated and are going to a great cause.

Thank you

Suzie, Cat and Jo xx

ps please tick the gift aid box, you dont get charged extra, but we raise more money! also if you dont mind putting your surname so we know who you are and can say a massive thank you!

UPDATES! 21/5/09

So....training is going well, one punture and one stolen bike seat! Cat is biking home again 50-60miles which will be the minimum we will be doing each day, so a good test for her! We have just raised over £60 at the uni athletics ball which was a great result! We are all getting really excited now and thank you all for your support! x x

23/5/09 So i made it home last night, 3hrs 25mins, slight mechanical hiccup- chain falls off whilst half way up the steepest hill! with no path to go onto i had to go on the verge with cars zooming at 60mph past me! fun times!

9/7/09 SO i found my respect for the distance we are going to endure today as i was out cycling. Horrible day, wind and felt horrible in my self! But wow when i finished did i have respect for the distance we are going to be taking on!! i think that no matter how much training you do, it will still be a tough challenge!!Made me more determined to complete this adventure!!

16/7/09 Cat is now the qualified mechanic of the three of us!! Had her mechanics lesson today , learning how to fix punctures!! all went well!!sure it will be amusing when it happens for real on the road side!!

17/7/09 I was sent an article today by my friend (Jude!) about a guy doing the cycle across america, was looking at motivation and endurane and overcoming the `pain barrier`. At the end it mentioned that the real challenge is whether you let your brain be in control of you or you be in control of your brain, with the latter being the winning formula!! I will be bearing that in mind when times get tough!! Also reading Lance Armstrong 2nd book `every seocnd counts` has some very motivational words in which im storing in my mind ready for the long 18days!!

also 3weeks today an i will be down in Plymouth staying with my sis -thanks gem!! while jo and suze arrive the following day! wow its getting so close and alll very excitied!!with a few nerves mixed in aswell!! x x x
