Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

We are three work mates who are passionate about supporting the welfare of war wounded. Whatever your views on our troop deployments this is not about politics, this is about our young men and women who need our support.

Beginning on 23/09/08 we are going to walk the Weald Way. This is a 95 mile trek from Gravesend (our place of work) to Eastbourne on the beautiful Sussex coast. The ramblers Association say that this is a 6 day walk so to add to the challenge we will be completing it in 3. We expect to be on Eastbourne pier around 1900-ish on 25/09/08. The route takes us through Kent across the Weald, through Ashdown Forest (the home of Winnie the Pooh!)  over the South Downs and on to the coast.

We will be walking from 7am to 7pm each day and carrying all that we need so there will be no B & B's or welfare visits from our families. We will, of course, take advantage of any hospitality we find en route. We'll only stop for food, drink and blister maintenance!

It is our aim to raise as money as possible through this venture to demonstrate our support to out troops. By supporting us you will be making a great difference to the welfare of our wounded. Feels good doesn't it?

As we move towards the event we will be posting regular updates of our progress so please visit again.

Thank you for your support,

Karl Don Francesco, Tony Bullimore, Pete Boldrini.

Update: We've got all our kit, done all our recce's and are raring to go. Only one week and we're off. A huge thanks to our command team who have given us the time to do the walk and also gave generously, thank you very much. A big thanks also goes to the guv'nor of the Blackboys Inn who has kindly given us permission to camp out in the orchard and to Del who brokered the deal. Thank you all.

Feels good doesn't it? Regards, Karl. Tony. Pete.

We did it and it was very hard work. There was only one tantrum (Tony!) and it was understandable. Karl and Tony took over two weeks to get over the blisters and bruising, Pete seemed impervious to it all, show off!! It was hard, we hurt and we won't be doing it again. However, we have raised money for our service personnel who are in great need of it so we feel good.

Thank you to all of the generous people who sponsored us, we appreciate your donations, FEELS GOOD DOESN'T IT?

Good health to you all, Karl, Tony, Pete.

We are still gathering in sponsorship and picking up extra on the way, such as the magnificent £440.00 generously donated by the CO11 (2) gang. Thank you guys, as always, you are a fantastic group of people. You also made the charity night great entertainment. (I have phographic evidence of Chunky believing he was the star attraction!).

The final score for the charity nigh has yet to be counted an we will post the good news as soon as it is in. Once again, a huge thank you to all that have supported us and therefore supported our wounded service personnel.
