Mark's National 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 Hours

National 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 Hours · 2 September 2017
Up until a year ago going to the gym or exercising was limited to walking the dog. But life catches up with you and it dawned on me that I wasn't young anymore and didn't want to have health issues as I got older. Now I exercise 5 times a week (gym and classes) and have my son to spur me on - competing with him is a challenge in it self ;)
For a while now I have wanted to do something to challenge my improved fitness (thanks to This Is Fitness) and what better way than to do the National 3 Peaks Challenge in 24hours; and at the same time raise money for a local Charity - A Child of Mine (ACOM).
Here is a little bit about what ACOM:
A Child of Mine is a registered charity supporting families across Staffordshire and UK and working alongside healthcare professionals when a child has died. They are a small charity but work passionately to deliver services locally for families who have lost a child at any age or circumstance.
The provide confidential support, information, guidance and a listening ear after the death of a child. They also provide groups for both younger and older children who have suffered the loss of a sibling and for parents who can meet others who have been through the same journey.
They are starting to make a huge impact to the lives of bereaved families by increasing wellbeing, improving emotional health and by providing access to much needed information, guidance and emotional support. They work closely with healthcare professionals and the major children’s hospitals across the country including Alder Hey, Great Ormond Street, Birmingham and Bristol. They educate on the needs and experiences of bereaved parents which helps to improve the care they give in the future.
They are passionate about making a difference to bereaved families and providing them with as much support as possible during the dark days that lie ahead.
My goal is to try and raise £1000 and any donation is greatly received.
If any company would like to provide sponsorship, then I am looking at putting their name/logo onto the front of my jacket and on the waterproof rucksack cover.
For all donations received then I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart and it will spur me on to make sure that I complete this challenge.
Thank You
Mark
