Phil Lyth is raising money for Leeds Hospitals Charity

Team: Remembering Naomi Lyth

In memory of Naomi Lyth
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
We are the charity of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. We support NHS staff to deliver the best care for over a million patients and their families each year. Donations fund life-saving equipment, treatments, research and home comforts. Whatever will make the biggest impact to the people who need it most.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

In May, Michael Thorne & I are (probably unwisely) planning to cycle 470 miles from Fort William to Snowdonia, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon en route. The expedition will be unsupported, so we will be carrying all our gear including tents, and as we will be "self-propelled" we will also be completely carbon neutral (apart from natural emissions which at our age can be considerable..!)

We are doing this in memory of Phil's daughter Naomi, who was born with a liver disease in 1985, and who died in 2011 despite the best efforts of everyone at St James' University Hospital in Leeds. Naomi loved hillwalking, so we feel that this is an appropriate challenge (although admittedly she didn't particularly like cycling!).

We would like you to encourage us by supporting the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Liver Transitional Care Fund (No. 5u40), which has been set-up to support young people born with liver disease in the transition from paediatric to adult care in Leeds.  As we know from Naomi’s experience, this is a particularly difficult and stressful time in their lives, and money raised is being used to fund a range of activities and resources to help them share their experiences and problems.  This was something Naomi would certainly have been involved with had she survived, as it was a cause close to her own heart.

Please support us and donate to this great cause!
