We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

UPDATE- 3 peaks challenge on 5th June started 3.31pm & completed by all climbers at 3.22pm on 6th June. Severe heat on Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands, finished up with scambling through snow at the top! Lost a bit of time on this one so driver Rob (who joined us up the Ben) had hit foot fully down to beat the road closure and save us time through the 6hr drive to the Lake district. Climbers had a maximum of 2hrs sleep cramped in our small minibus. Arrived in Wasdale Head at 3am and with aid of torches went up Scafell Pike in the pitch black darkness and quickly ascent through low lying mist to have clear skies as we raced up. Arrived at the top in time to see sunrise before racing down as quickly as possible. A number of injuries, mainly knee strains occured on the descent, but still managed to complete this leg of the challenge by saving some time. We quickly shot off towards Pen-y-Pass in Snowdonia with nothing more than a stop for a welcomed latte at Costa at a service station. We arrived at the foothills of Snowdon with just 4hrs to go. We wasted no time and quickly headed towards the base of the Miners path. The clear skies had quickly changed as we walked along the base of Snowdon and as we ascended we were quickly showered by rain and had a visibility of about 3metres. The weather unfortunately got worse and as we reached the peak we were being blown around by what felt like gale force winds. With under 2hrs to ascend (which would have been straightforward had it being a clear day) things were looking tight. Thankfully we were all able to descend unharmed despite atrocious weather conditions and raced past lakes and rocks as we neared the finish line. With just 9minutes to go we had completed the challenge. Thank you for all your donations, your money will go along way to help cancer sufferers around the world (this page will be taken down on the 2nd of August.)

We are a group of eight who are going to do the 3 peaks challenge in June in aid of Cancer Research UK. We will be climbing the 3 tallest peaks in Scotland, England & Wales in 24hrs. We will start at 5pm on the 5th of June at Fort William in Scotland and climb Ben Nevis, and will hopefully finish by 5pm on 6th of June at the bottom of Snowdon in Wales. It is a popular but an immensely difficult challenge and people often fail to manage it within the 24hrs. It will take alot of training and test climbs in preparation.

One of our climbers has survived cancer at just 27yrs of age and so want to raise as much money as possible to help people in the future to have such a great chance of cure for ALL types of cancer, when diagnosed with this potentially fatal condition. There is alot of work still to be done and with cancer currently affecting 1 in 3 people, and with the risk of this increasing further, we hope that you can all dig deep and donate to Cancer Research UK for all the great work they have already done, and still have to do.

For a more comical look at our backgrounds and the challenge we face feel free to view http://www.justdadyali.com/ which is our website we have set up to look at the more humourous side of our near impossible challenge we have set for ourselves.
