Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Five officers based in theMinistry of Defence in Whitehall , 4 Army and one Royal Marine, have, somewhat naively, decided to compete in the Annual Three Peaks Yacht Race in June 2009.  The race is a unique event for about 22 teams that combines sailing, running, and some cycling, and is considered to be one of the toughest long distance team challenges in the UK.  The aim is for the team to sail from Barmouth toFortWilliam via Caernavon and Whitehaven in order to climb the highest mountain in Wales (Snowdon) followed by England (Scarfell Pike) and then Scotland (Ben Nevis).  It is a timed event that should last about three and a half days providing it goes to plan!  Though I cannot be assured of gaining first place it is our intention to be competitive and push ourselves to the limits.

In addition to challenging ourselves and proving that we are still sprightly young men it is our intention to gain maximum sponsorship for the British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association (BLESMA).  All of us have been on Military Operations recently, in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and have witnessed some horrendous injuries to our men.  BLESMA has been instrumental in providing significant support to some of those men whom we have had the privilege of commanding and it is hoped that our fund raising efforts will help BLESMA assist other service people into the future.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association (Blesma) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
