A little about the Theo Walker Fund:
Theo's fund was created in memory of Theo Walker who was born on the 20th November 2009 and died four and a half weeks later on 21st December 2009 from the congenital heart condition, Pulmonary Atresia with intact ventricular septum. Theo's parents, Dan and Lucy knew before Theo was born that he would require many complex operations, however following his birth, it became clear that his condition was too complicated for the surgeons to be able to perform the procedures they had planned. Palliative care for what remained of Theo's life was all that was possible.
All the family received the most wonderful care and support from the nurses and doctors of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit ('PICU') at The Royal Brompton Hospital for nearly two weeks, before they were unexpectedly able to take Theo home for the remainder of his short life.
The Theo Walker Fund aims to help families that still have 'their Theo' and rely on the truly inspirational and caring paediatric nurses and doctors of PICU at The Royal Brompton Hospital.
The Royal Brompton may not have the profile of a Great Ormond Street Hospital ('GOSH'), but for kids with heart and lungs conditions it provides the same remarkable life-enhancing care as GOSH does for its little patients.
If you visit www.TheoWalkerFund.com then you can find out more about Theo's story and more reasons why The Brompton Fountain deserves all our support.
A little about the 3 Peaks challenge:
The 3 Peaks Challenge involves climbing/hiking the three highest peaks in the UK; Ben Nevis, Scotland (1344m), Scarfell Pike, England (978m) and Snowdon, Wales (1085m), all within a 24hr time period. The climbing itself represents a real challenge, but add to that the 450 miles that must be travelled by road in addition to the ascents and descents and there is little time for taking in the scenery!
Our planned itinerary is:
· Climb Ben Nevis at 17.00, returning back to the start for 22.00
· Drive to Scarfell Pike
· Climb Scarfell Pike at 4.30, returning back to start for 8.30
· Drive to Snowdon
· Climb Snowdon at 13.30, returning back to start before 17.00 - within 24 hours!
· Celebratory pint at the pub 17.30!
