Story
After completing the 2006 London Marathon in respect of my father and raising much needed funds for The Stroke Association I’m pleased to announce (maybe I am, maybe I’m not) I’m back with a vengeance for the Great North Run where I’m honoured to be representing, running and reaping in the pennies for Leukaemia Research.
ABOUT LEUKAEMIA RESEARCH http://www.lrf.org.uk/
They were established in 1960 and are still the only national research charity devoted exclusively to leukaemia, lymphomas, myeloma, aplastic anaemia, myelodysplasia, the myeloproliferative disorders and related blood disorders in both children and adults. They receive no Government grants and rely entirely on voluntary donations.
Did you know…..
24,500 people in Britain are diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, or other related cancer of the blood every year.
1 in 25 people will develop blood cancer in their lifetime
Blood cancers are the biggest cause of cancer death for under 35’s
Leukaemia is the most common form of cancer in children
A substantial amount of funds raised to fight these diseases goes towards supporting doctors and scientists at hospitals and academic institutions across the country. They fund a wide range of projects from basic laboratory research to clinical trials with patients.
If you can kindly spare any sort of donation it will be gladly received and strive towards valuable research and contribute to saving lives.
Kind regards
Martin
