Hello!!! T’is I Ant Mulherin, first things first I’d like to thank you for taking the time to come to my page and wish you a very warm welcome So what’s this all about then? Well for those of you who don’t know me I REALLY like drinking, I mean I like drinking a lot. That’s not to say I have any alcohol dependency issues or am leathered every night, I just have a very healthy appetite for drinking in its various forms which is why I have decided to abstain from alcohol of any form for 40 days and 40 nights. Oh yes, that’s right folks, not a drop from February 14th til March 25th, no scoops in town after work, no glasses of wine of an evening, no heavy and messy sessions on Fri and Sat nights, no crazy cocktails at house parties, no Irish Coffee after a meal, nothing! Now this may not sound like much to some of you but when you drink as often as I do, spend as much time in pubs and bars (I’m a musician in my spare time) and have been this way for the last ten years this is no mean feat. Throw into the mix that I’ll be stone cold sober for St. Partrick’s Night and my own 27th Birthday on March 18th I’m facing a pretty tough challenge – hence the plethora of beverages I sank on my last night of freedom on Wed 13th. The pic on the left is from Friday February 22nd - stocking up on Alcohol-free Cobra and Eisberg alcohol-free wine. I think the pic captures my dismay quite nicely. WHAT THE HELL AM I THINKING??????????? Well the reason behind this insanity is an excellent charity by the name of Shaw Trust who specialise in assisting people who are looking to return to employment after an extended period of sickness or suffer from a medical condition which may prevent or hinder their return to work. As some of you may know my mum suffers from MS and as such has found it difficult to work full-time yet cannot earn enough money from a part-time job to be self-sufficient. The Shaw Trust are providing finanical support so that my mum can afford to take a part-time job and build up to taking on a full-time job further down the line. There are a lot of people in my mum’s position who are trying hard to return to work and Shaw Trust have spent the last 25 years aiding that transition and so are a very worthy cause in my eyes and hopefully in your eyes too. So if me crying into my Britvic Orange for 40 days and 40 nights isn’t enough to prompt you to dig deep there’s the fact that this is a great charity helping a lot of people, my mum being one of them and for those of you who know her you’ll know she’s awesome…..and for those of you who don’t know her……….well…… ….she’s awesome!!! Donating through this site really is easy and totally secure, plus if you are a UK taxpayer an extra 28% in tax will be added to your sponsorship at no cost to you!!! How good is that?? THANK YOU SO MUCH AND WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!! Ant
