We know that terminal illness turns lives upside-down. We help people live as well as possible for as long as possible and ensure their final days are comfortable and peaceful. We support families, friends and carers too. We depend on your kindness for 80% of the cost of delivering our services.

Story

Kelvin, a good friend and business colleague of ours recently lost his partner, Jackie, who had been fighting a very painful cancer for some time. In her final days she was cared for by the Heart of Kent Hospice in Kent - run by MacMillan nurses  - and we are hoping to be able to raise money for them.

The nurses and doctors from the Heart of Kent Hospice regularly visited Jackie to support her physically and emotionally, often having to walk through deep snow to get to Jackie's home as many roads were closed. Their support and that of all the NHS doctors, District Nurses and carers will always be remembered as making  Jackie's last months as comfortable as was possible.

We want to give something back to the Heart of Kent Hospice - for Jackie and for the many other people they care for.

About the Heart of Kent Hospice:

The Heart of Kent Hospice is a registered charity specialising in palliative care for the people of Maidstone, Kent and the surrounding local communities. Their specialist team offers skilled care, comfort, compassion and hope to people facing the challenge of terminal illness.

At any one time they support up to 350 patients, plus their families and carers. As a charity the services they offer are free of charge. However, this does mean that of the £3m that it currently costs per year to provide the care, they have to raise £2.2m themselves from the community that they serve.
