Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

42 Engineer Regiment (Geographic) are entering a team to run the 13.1 mile route of the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 21st March 2010, pulling a 3 tonne Land Rover around the demanding course with them.

We are undertaken weeks of arduous build up training as the event comes closer. This task has never been attempted before due to the magnitude of it.

Each member of the team has demonstrated the commitment and the physical ability required to complete the course but as we have found out in practise sessions it is not a challange to be taken lightly and will require complete dedication and courage.

The ABF supports serving soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need.

Individuals needs can range from an electric wheelchair, or a stair lift for an injured former soldier, or to pay care home fees for a Second World War veteran, or a much needed holiday for a war widow and her young children.

We need all the support we can get, as does the Army Benevolent Fund to cater for the increasing demand on its service. Therefore, your support for this effort would be greatly appertained.
