Morning all.....quick sanity check this morning when I asked Justin if there was anything he need to know before we embark on our trip...his response: Yes I would like to know if they have installed a cable car to the top. Where I can sit and drink beer while you two clowns walk up it And if its easy to hire nobby hats and crampons for when I get into fights in the bar waiting for you to come back.....made me laugh!!
Duncan Bush and Justin Burrell are climbing Mt Blanc (4,808 meters / 15,781 feet - the highest mountain in Europe) on the French Italian border via the 3 monts route in June 2011 for Cancer Research UK - probably one of the most worthwhile charities! The 3 monts route is well known for its climbing challenges and associated dangers involved of crevasses, avalanche, ceracs, altitude and well below freezing conditions! We start on 19 June spending 3 days initially perfecting our ice climbing techniques with crampons, ice axe and rope skills all at altitude, as well sleeping above 2,000 meters in order to prepare us for the main accent later on in the week. The final accent, summit and decent will be completed on the following 3 days, providing snow and ice conditions remain relatively stable as with the weather. Some of you may know we've been training incredibly hard for the last 6 months with many many miles put in of running, cycling and climbing in the lake district....and most painfully easing of the beer and burgers! Therefore we’d be incredibly grateful if would support the climb and sponsor a little or as much as you can afford, all monies go direct to the charity and will be gratefully received. Thanks, Dunc and Just
