Story
This is a very special photo of my Grandad 'Danny' giving my son a lovely goodnight hug. At this time in Dannys life he was really unsure as to who this child really was, but Danny loved all children and it was really heartwarming to see Dannys face smile.
Danny died the same as one out of every 3 older people do - with Alzheimers disease. This terrible disease took him away bit by bit and left him with no memory of his life, with no memory of how to get dressed or even eat. He passed away on 22nd March 2008 - and ever since that day it worries me that there is still NO CURE - this is a TERMINAL disease - you cannot recover from this, and it is such a terrible way to die.
The sad matter of fact is that if the Alzheimers Society had half of the funding that goes into Cancer research then they would have found a cure by now.
Please give as much as you can even if its only £1 - they need your help. You or someone close to you maybe the next statistic and 1 person out of every 3 is not very good odds.
This will be my second year running the Bupa Great South Run for the Alzheimer's Society, I am really looking forward to the run and raising those much needed funds. I hope you can help.
