Story
January 2010. I was in the States on business when ICE MOTHER lit up my Blackberry and Hotel room. At 04:30 AM this call had better be important! It was, my brother had just been diagnosed with the Big C. Indiscriminate and cruel, this was a battle “our kid” tragically lost.
Sadly, this scenario will be familair to so many people, either as survivors, those left behind or worse. Through these difficult times MacMillan go about their business, providing services, support and helping those directly and indirectly affected.
Appreciation goes beyond expression and words. ‘Thank You’ is simply hopelessly inadequate. So this year, I want to give something back.
On the 4 August I will be riding in the first London 100 Classic Amateur Cycle Event, as a part of the MacMillan Team. The ride starts at Olympic Park, follows the 2012 Olympic Road Race Route through London and the Surrey Hills, finishing 100 miles later on the Mall. (Link below).
When I am digging deep, on the slog up Leith Hill at 55 miles and Box Hill at 65 miles (and everything hurts), it would be great encouragement to know you are digging deep too.
Please can you spare just a few quid, it will make all the difference and I’ll do my best not to let you down.
Thank you - Simon
