Adidas Dublin Marathon 2008 · 27 October 2008 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hello again...

I successfully managed to complete the Dublin Marathon in a personal best-smashing time of 5:27:47, which I'm damn proud of!

Thanks to everyone who has supported and donated so far - there's still plenty of time to donate if you haven't already, as this page will be open until the end of January.

Hello there!

First of all, thanks for visiting. Last year I ran my first marathon in Edinburgh for the Alzheimer's Society and I enjoyed it so much, I decided to do another as soon as possible! So here I am, training and fundraising for the Dublin Marathon, on October 27th.

Both my grandparents struggled against dementia and Alzheimer's through their later life. It was a great strain on our families and their carers as their personalities slowly faded and the dementia took over. Alzheimer's claimed them both, with my grandmother dying earlier this year. So that's why, in their memory, I'll be running to support the Alzheimer's Society.

You can follow the ups and downs (and I'm sure there'll be plenty of both) of my progress on my training blog, www.50000steps.co.uk.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
