Danny and Joe's 500 lap challenge.

The 500 lap challenge. · 17 September 2017
Last year Danny and I raised over £1500 for the Edinburgh sick Kids charity and this year we wanted to do something bigger. We have decided to team up with friends and family to walk or run 500 laps of our local athletic track on september 17th. We have also decided to share the funds raised between 3 charities and Nith Inshore rescue is one of them. Here is why it is important.
Here's Danny......
"Nith Rescue is an inshore team that guard rivers and lochs in the Dumfries and Galloway area, They have saved many lives and are a credit to the community. They taught me how to read maps and drive the boats. We have done many tasks including stretcher excersises and learning how to tie different knots. I have loved every minute at the boat house and I have learned many skils"
All lifeboats in the UK are run by volunteers, and ours is no different. We have no paid staff, and we all give our own time to help others who need us. Many of our crew have busy day jobs, but when the pager goes off, they are at the boathouse within minutes and ready to respond to any emergency in or near water.Nith Inshore Rescue is an independent lifeboat, which means we are not linked to the RNLI and have to raise all our own funds in order to run. This amounts to around £20,000 per year (not including unforeseen expenses).
