It provides search and rescue cover for the mountains and valleys of Wasdale and Eskdale in the western Lake District. The area covers England's highest mountains and Britain's favourite view.

Story

Testing AW Wainwright quote “a relentless and unremitting treadmill, a turf clutching crawl not a walk”  Lindsay will be running up and down the 2630 foot Kirk Fell in Wasdale 50 times before her 50th birthday in October 2010 and in doing so raising money for the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team. To put this in context, this equates to a total ascent of 131500 feet (40000 metres) 4.5 times the height of Everest.

A member of Cumberland Fell Runners and the 2009
England Lady Vet45 gold medal winning team at the World Masters Mountain Running Championships in Zagreb, Lindsay has overcome many challenges. These include competing in 10 marathons, 100 half marathons, 8 Keswick to Barrows (40 miles), 8 Workington to Keswick's (30 miles) and is one of the few to win both local events, numerous other road and fell runs as well as stair climbing exploits at the Empire State Building in New York and Sears Tower in Chicago.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team members are all local volunteers (some who work on the site) who give their time to helping those in trouble - not just on the hills as they also assisted the Cockermouth MRT during the recent floods. She has had a lot of support already and would like to thank everyone who has sponsored her so far.
