Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I long since recognised the benefit of expanding and learning through reading but have never been a prolific reader; at school I was very much below average, not in terms of understanding, spelling or punctuation but I was classified ‘A slow reader’ a label that has pably influenced me for far too long.
By breaking down what seemed an arduous task into bite-sized, structured reading slots in a day I found I could read a whole book (typical 350 pages) in a week! In fact it didn’t feel like a task as reading 10 pages at a time seemed easy and enjoyable.
I couldn’t stop my mind racing to the next possibility could a ‘slow reader’ read 52 books in a year? What would that do for me, in terms of personal growth, if I could?
So crazy it may be but I have decided to do exactly that. The ‘Fifty-Two Book Challenge’ commences Monday 5th of April 2010.
To commit myself even further I suddenly thought what if I got sponsored – then I’d really have to achieve it! So I have chosen the ‘Listening Books’ charity.
Listening Books are a charity providing a fantastic selection of high-quality audiobooks to over 7000 people across the who find it difficult or impossible to read due to illness or disability.
I will keep my progress up to date on my blog with a weekly update of book read nad perhaps a summary / rating.
