Bogle 2017 · 10 March 2017

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

Joanne, Georgia, Eva, Eden, Jamie, and Phoebe are taking on the Bogle walk, which is a 55 mile walk around Greater Manchester. The history behind Bogle is that it started in 1961 when a group of UMIST lecturers missed the last bus home in Lancaster and decided to walk the 55 miles back to Manchester. Along the way some of the group started to hallucinate and saw the Bogle (a Lancashire imp of folklore), in their imagination the Bogle was taunting the walkers, willing them to give up. It is in defeating the Bogle that the event gets its name. We will be participating through Manchester RAG in our Students' Union.

We believe Cancer Research is a worthwhile charity because at some point in our lives we have or will be affected in some way by cancer.
